Do-it-yourself simple veranda construction

During the construction of private houses, such an extension as a veranda was widely used. It is a small room relative to the overall size of the house, closed (for example, glazed) or open, designed in addition to decorative functions to protect the front door of the house directly from the effects of various external influences, primarily atmospheric. It is worth noting that the construction of a veranda with your own hands is a fairly simple process, for this reason this process is available to the vast majority of the male representatives of the former Soviet Union. It should be borne in mind that knowledge of certain features that are inherent in the construction of the veranda can save a lot of time and, above all, on materials, and, accordingly, finances.

The layout of the veranda

When planning the construction of a veranda with your own hands, it is worth remembering that this room is an exclusively annex, which should to some extent affect the choice of both construction and material. If in the end a room is planned, the main functions of which, in addition to protecting the front door from the weather, will be to store blanks for the winter, which require freezing temperatures to preserve the quality, create a summer kitchen for relaxation, then it is worth planning to build a cold (not heated from the beam) ) premises.

There is another option for using the veranda, for example, for storing and growing seedlings of vegetables and fruits at an early stage in early spring, if you want to increase the summer period in a country house to some extent, then in this situation it is worth designing a veranda with insulated walls, a ceiling , the floor, in fact, is about the same as the finish of the garage with your own hands. In some cases, it makes sense to install stationary or portable heating, for example, a heater.

Do-it-yourself construction of a cold veranda

First of all, it is worthwhile to understand that the veranda itself is a relatively light room, regardless of what building materials and technologies were used in the construction of the house itself. Thus, even in the case when the house is built absolutely “from scratch”, there is no economic and technological prospect to build a common foundation for the house and the veranda. The foundation for the veranda will be thinner, and, accordingly, lower. Among other things, the general foundation in the absence of a uniform load around the perimeter can corny crack.

At the first stage, it is necessary to mark the perimeter and the platform itself for the veranda and determine the places where the supports will be located (it is worth recalling that in this case it is planned to build out of timber with your own hands). When installing the foundation, it is worth remembering that it (columnar or tape, which, of course, is more expensive) should not be rigidly connected with the foundation of the house itself. It is certainly desirable to install the so-called blind area, in order to ensure further dryness under the veranda. Further, the construction of the veranda with your own hands involves the installation of the supports themselves, but it is worth remembering that this operation is carried out with the fastening of the corresponding load-bearing beams of the floor. As a result, it is desirable to connect the entire structure with a board. This is followed by flooring, roofing and wall cladding. These operations do not require special attention, since they are quite common in construction and are used everywhere, for example, finishing a garage with your own hands will not do without such operations. As for the ceiling hemming, it is recommended to use the so-called “inch” in these types of rooms to reduce the weight of the structure.
