A new terminal for passengers at the Kurumoch International Airport in Samara was launched on February 24 this year. The opening ceremony was attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. In general, the airport (Samara) worked with dignity. The construction of the Kurumoch airport began in 2013, in July, and very quickly ended - in 2014, on December 24. The culprit of such a quick process we already know. The airport is located 35 kilometers from Samara, from the north of the city, near the village of Birch. Its current name came from the village of the same name, which is located nearby, seven kilometers southwest.

The new airport is the most promising in the entire Volga region. The passenger terminal area is 42,600 m2, which is four times larger than the previous one. Without stopping the operation of the complex, thanks to special designs, it can be increased up to 60,000 m 2 on the sides. The organization of passenger traffic inside the terminal simultaneously allows landing on 12 aircraft. There are twenty-four reception desks.
The airport complex has a total capacity of at least 1,400 people per hour. Now has an updated Samara airport. Kurumoch was able to serve about 3,500,000 passengers a year. Dozens of new facilities were built, including access roads, facilities for the necessary engineering communications, a cargo complex, and parking for more than 1,400 places.
Reconstruction of the airport, its completion date
The airport (Samara), called “Kurumoch”, has two runways that are perpendicular to one another and equipped with the most modern landing systems. Fifty aircraft stops are equipped here.
Within the framework of the project, the following was implemented: light signaling equipment was installed, runways, taxiways were reinforced with asphalt, sewage treatment plants, a cargo platform, and a platform for treating aircraft with special liquid in winter were built. Full completion of the airport reconstruction is planned in two years - in 2017. All related facilities will be completed. It is planned to connect Togliatti and Samara by air express trains.
