The maximum salary of a surgeon in Moscow is 150,000 rubles. More often, the owners of such earnings are specialists with the scientific titles of a doctor or professor. The place of work also matters. In most cases, high wages are provided in private clinics. However, a surgeon with the same qualifications and regalia in St. Petersburg earns a maximum of 42,000 rubles per month.
The same indicators are relevant for Yekaterinburg. Next is Irkutsk and Nizhny Novgorod, where the maximum doctor’s salary is about 40,000 rubles. In other regions, wages are lower.
Plastic surgeon
Plastic surgery is a separate branch in surgery. Mostly it is used by a wealthy category of citizens, so the number of private plastic clinics prevails over public institutions. However, when compared with world figures, the salary of a plastic surgeon in Moscow is considered average.
Depending on the length of service, region and clinic, a plastic surgeon can earn from 300,000 to 400,000 rubles. These figures are relevant only for the capital. In other cities, they are much lower - from 150,000 to 200,000 rubles.
Price of an ophthalmologist
Ophthalmology also belongs to the category of popular areas. The section of medicine itself involves the treatment of eye diseases. An ophthalmologist-surgeon plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of such diseases. The salary of a surgeon in Moscow, in a hospital specializing in this area, ranges from 60,000 to 100,000 rubles.
The Magadan Region is the leader in this area, where the average salary of ophthalmologists is 116,000 rubles. But colleagues from Perm can count on only 50,000 rubles a month.
The average salary of a surgeon in Moscow in the field of pediatric ophthalmology is about 70,000 rubles. Employers estimate the work of the chief ophthalmologist at 150,000 rubles.
Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery is a branch of medicine whose task is to treat diseases of the nervous system. It is considered one of the difficult areas. A doctor often has to work with patients in a specific condition. It is assumed that payment for such complex labor should be appropriate. But reality is a little disappointing.
The national average is 25,000 rubles. By a wide margin, Moscow doctors are leading. The salary of a surgeon in Moscow in the neurosurgical department is about 150,000 rubles. Following are experts from the Tyumen region. They can count on the amount of more than 56 thousand rubles a month when working in public hospitals and about 100 000 rubles, practicing in private clinics. In the Tomsk region, the same specialists receive from 25,000 to 30,000 rubles a month. In general, the minimum salary of a neurosurgeon in the country is about 22,000 rubles.
Growth dynamics
Salaries of budget specialists have a chance to grow in two aspects:
- Government measures: allowances, general increase, bonuses, surcharges and indexation.
- Personal achievements: advanced training, accumulated work experience, special merits and contribution to the development of healthcare.
So, thanks to such measures, the salary of a surgeon in Moscow and other regions has grown significantly. In particular, statistics report the following indicators:
- in 2012, the average wage in the country was 40–41,000 rubles;
- if at the beginning of 2013 the salary was about 49,000 rubles, then at the end of that year it increased to 51,900 rubles;
- 2014 was marked by a crisis in some sectors of the economy. Therefore, there was no increase. Dynamics, on the contrary, showed the opposite result - about 50,000 rubles a month;
- but at the beginning of 2015 the situation is already radically changing and the salary of a surgeon in Moscow is about 60,000 rubles;
- by the end of 2015, a decrease was again observed;
- the situation returned to normal only in 2016, reaching an average of 62,000 rubles in the country;
- In 2017, there were also no cardinal changes - the average figures are 60,000 rubles.
Government Promises and Outcomes
Back in early 2015, high-ranking officials voiced promises that by 2017, the average salary of doctors in state institutions will be 70,000 rubles. As a practical measure, at the end of 2017, the Government made a proposal to increase the salary of doctors to twice the average salary in the regions. The results in numbers are as follows, data for 2017:
- in August 2017, the average salary amounted to about 57,000 rubles;
- September - 60,000 rubles;
- significant growth has been observed since October - the average salary was 68,000 rubles;
- this amount lasted until the end of 2017.
Data for the first quarter of 2018 show an amount of 72,000 rubles. In approximately this amount, salaries are paid in Moscow to the operating surgeon in the hospital.
Jobs by Region
Doctors are in demand in all regions of the country. Without a surgeon in general and narrow areas, it is impossible to imagine a full-fledged medical staff. The number of vacancies depends on which region is considered. Not only in terms of wages, but also in the number of state clinics and private hospitals, Moscow still prevails. The capital accounts for 22% of all demand for medical services.
Following is the Leningrad region. The region’s share in the total mass is 8%. The list is continued by Krasnodar Territory, Novosibirsk and Sverdlovsk Regions.
Above in the list, we examined the amount of actual salaries. However, the information indicated in the free vacancies for the search for specialists is slightly different. The total number of vacancies in the field of medicine is 570. Of these, only 46 offer wages in the amount of more than 90,000 rubles. Outside the Moscow region, only four employers are willing to pay such a salary. The bulk of hospitals and clinics offer salaries in the region of 27,200 - 48,000 rubles. The lowest paid doctor’s vacancy implies a salary of 21,200 rubles. Of the 570 vacancies, 170 offer lower-than-average salaries in the region of 22,000 rubles.
Profession Features
In many advanced countries of the world, the profession of a doctor is considered prestigious and is paid accordingly. Russia seeks in their ranks and the first results have already been achieved. For example, among the CIS countries, Russia leads in terms of salaries in the medical sector. However, the medical profession deserves even more. Here are a few reasons:
- high level of responsibility;
- high stress level;
- physical and psychological stamina is required;
- you need to have great patience in order to build trusting relationships with different patients;
- Studying at a medical university is expensive and requires tremendous efforts for a long time.
At the same time, doctors deserve not only high wages, but also a decent attitude from the state and society. After all, healthy people are a healthy nation. And this difficult task is difficult to do without the hands of good doctors.
