Biography

The future ballerina Ulyana Lopatkina was born in 1973, October 23. Her parents were teachers. She also has a younger brother named Eugene. The place of birth of the artist is the city of Kerch, Crimea. All her childhood passed on the Black Sea. In early childhood, parents gave the girl to ballet. Ulyana Lopatkina studied in choreographic circles, as well as in the section on gymnastics. Education, the artist received at the Academy of Russian Ballet named after Agrippina Yakovlevna Vaganova. She studied in the classroom of Professor N. Dudinskaya. As a student, she won her first prize in the field of ballet.

Since 1991 she is an artist of the Mariinsky Theater. Here, outstanding personalities such as Ninel Aleksandrovna Kurgapkina and Olga Nikolaevna Moiseeva became the teachers of Ulyana.

After 4 years of hard work, she became a prima. Her debut role was Odile / Odette in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake, which brought her first success. The actress was highly appreciated by critics and fell in love with the public. For this role, the ballerina was awarded one of the most prestigious theater awards in our country - Golden Spotlights.

Soon she was seriously injured and did not go on stage for several years. In 2003, she decided on a major operation. After that, Ulyana Lopatkina was able to return to her favorite work. Today, a wonderful teacher Irina Aleksandrovna Chistyakova works with a ballerina. In 2013, Nikolai Tsiskaridze was appointed rector of the A. Ya. Vaganova Ballet Academy. He recommended taking Ulyana to the position of artistic director. But for some reason, the ballerina did not sign a contract with the academy.

In 2001, Ulyana got married. Her husband was a businessman and writer Vladimir Kornev. In 2002, the couple had a daughter, who was given the name Maria. In 2010, the couple divorced. Now, in addition to her career, Ulyana is actively involved in charity work. She chairs the Board of Trustees of the Cancer Prevention Foundation.

Over the years of her creative activity, Ulyana Lopatkina happened to work not only on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater, of which she is a prima ballerina. She dances in many other famous venues of the country and the world. These are the GABD (Moscow), the Metropolitan Opera (New York), the Royal Opera House (London), La Scala (Milan), the Grand Opera (Paris), NHK (Tokyo), as well as the National Opera and Ballet Theater (Helsinki).

In the year 2010, the ballerina took part in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Canada. In 2011, a gala concert was held in London, dedicated to the memory of the great ballerina Galina Ulanova. Ulyana took part in it.

In addition to her favorite profession, the ballerina has several hobbies: Ulyana loves to draw, read books, listen to classical music, and is also interested in interior design and cinema.
