Every fisherman knows that only a ragged boot or a can with the colorful name “Sprat in Tomato” can peck on a bare hook. In order to catch even the smallest small fish, bait is necessary. For fishing, it can be different: dough, bread, corn, pasta, parsley and even lettuce. But most often, fishermen use an animal nozzle, which is usually called bait. It is not necessary for a beginner in fishing to know all about fishing. When going to a pond, you can make straightforward equipment for the simplest float rod. But in order not to be left without a trophy, even if not too weighty, you need to know what kind of bait this or that fish pecks.
There are a number of animal baits that work equally well when fishing for predators and herbivorous species. The most common bait in the spring is considered to be bloodworms. It is the basis of the diet of fish in rivers up to the transformation of larvae into mosquitoes and their mass departure. When choosing bloodworms, special attention should be paid to the following nuances. Firstly, the best larvae have a darkish shade and are very easily folded into a ringlet. The bright
scarlet color of bloodworm speaks of its immaturity. Of course, because of the rich color, such fishing bait is extremely attractive to fish. But immature larvae do not live long and are sensitive to any temperature changes. Keeping them is almost impossible.
In the spring, the maggot is also of great interest to the fish - the larvae of dairy flies. This fishing bait is traditional for roaches, ides, brooders and scavengers. Many experienced anglers have long noticed that fish biting is largely dependent on the smell emitted by these larvae. That is why with a purchased maggot it is better to do a series of manipulations that will improve their appearance and aroma. So, the acquired bait is placed in a
nylon stocking and washed under cold running water. In this case, ordinary washing powder is used. After such a peculiar washing, maggots become slightly “crunchy” to the touch. Further, this fishing bait is mixed with sawdust to free it from internal dirt. After about a day, the larvae are weeded out and transferred to dry bran. In this form, maggots can be stored in the refrigerator for a long time.
Another bait for fishing - caddis flies - is very revered by fish at any time of the year. But its use is complicated by the inability to store. The thing is that these butterfly larvae are extremely sensitive to temperature changes. With any changes, they die.
You may notice that small fish peck at bloodworms and maggots, and weighty individuals swim in search of something larger and more satisfying. And then the turn comes to all known and very popular worms. They are deservedly considered the best bait for fish. In addition to traditional earthworms, dung, earthworms, waterworms, leaves and creeps are also used. Recently, California worms have appeared on the fishing bait market - a very tenacious and catchy bait.
This is not all bait used in catching river fish. If you have to travel to an unfamiliar reservoir and there is a problem with the choice of bait, then it is better to take them all for fishing. After all, it is known that fish is very moody and you never know exactly which menu it will prefer today.
