The boy hid under the branches of fir, ate a dash of bread, captured from the house, and fell asleep, clinging to the tree. In the morning, the teenager made a fire to keep warm.

While he was considering where to go next, the smoke from the ship appeared in the distance. After waiting for the ship to come closer, the boy began to wave his hands in the hope that the passengers could see him. One man waved back at him. However, the boy realized that people, most likely, did not attach any importance to this greeting, because in the journey, passengers had seen more than once on the shore those who waved their hands. Vasyutka was seized by despair. He began to prepare for the night, but suddenly saw a fishing boat and began to scream loudly. Finally, they noticed him, took him aboard.
