Secrets of successful fishing, or How to tie leashes to the main fishing line?

Both in summer and in winter fishing, fishermen often use an additional leash when equipping their gear. Leashes are usually made of fishing line with a diameter corresponding to the main one, and are attached at different distances from the devil or lower mormyshka. Shorting the tackle at the bottom can also make a sinker. Now consider how to tie leashes to the main fishing line.

What is an additional leash for?

An additional leash is used to fix additional hooks or mormyshki on the main fishing line. Thus, there can be several mormyshka and hooks - therefore, in many regions such tackle is called a "garland", and tackle hung with mormyshka is called a "steam locomotive". As a rule, a standard leash, designed for ordinary partial fish, for example, roach, ram or rudd, has three hooks.

The main task of a fisherman when equipping a tackle with a leash is to tie it to the fishing line with sufficient elasticity. That is, we knit the leashes to the main fishing line so that the additional mormyshka or hook with a nozzle does not hang too close and parallel to the main fishing line. This is a necessary condition so that they do not get confused with the fishing line when fishing and posting.

What is the best way to tie an extra leash?

So, one loop-revolution is made on the main fishing line. A leash (its end) is inserted into the loop, which then needs to be tied to the main fishing line. After this, the end of the leash forms a half-loop parallel to the main fishing line. The half-loop should be located at the very bottom of the equipment, facing the sinker or lower mormyshka. Now you need to make a few turns with the free end around the half loop and the main fishing line. The number of revolutions is determined by the diameter of the fishing line. The free end is held in a half-loop and everything is tightened. How to tie leashes with the correct ratio of revolutions and diameter to the main fishing line? The average ratio can be this: the diameter of the main scaffold is 0.08 mm - 8 turns are made, and if 0.12 - 6 turns.

It turns out that leaving the site, the side leash to the main fishing line will be parallel and head up to the fishing rod. This position of the auxiliary fishing line in the knot will give the leash elasticity regardless of the diameter of the scaffold. Of course, in this case we are talking about the average length. Leashes that are too long can degrade the performance of the gear and all of its elements will be confused.

Leash length

And now we will answer the question of how to tie leashes of the required length to the main fishing line. It should be noted that the length determines the type of fish for which it is calculated. If you plan to fish a certain species, for example, carp or bream, then the length of the leash, as well as the size and number of hooks, must be specified by the fishermen of a particular area or rummaged in the literature. In our case, a universal leash should be obtained, which is suitable for catching several species of fish at once, so the length will be optimal - 20 - 25 cm.

Is it possible and how to tie leashes that are already provided with hooks to the main fishing line?

Of course, the traditional option is when the end of the leash is hooked after attaching to the fishing line. But you can do the other way around - first prepare a few leashes with ready jigs or hooks, and then weave them into the main fishing line. This will simplify the adjustment of the leash length.

As a result, the leash with the hook should be perpendicular to the main fishing line. In this case, its bending downward when mounting the bait (mormysh or raspberry) will be insignificant, and the hook with the bait will not be confused with the fishing line. The game of bait when posting all the gear in height should be richer and more interesting, which will positively affect the increase in the bite.

It is possible that the weight of the mormyshka will slightly pull the line of the leash, but the main thing here is that neither the leash nor the mormyshka should come into contact with it. In general, it is useful for winter fishing rods if they are equipped with additional mormyshki and leashes.
