Today, wardrobes can be found in almost any apartment. Such a popularity of this piece of furniture is mainly due to its functionality, significant space saving and the ability to choose the design that will appeal to you the most or will fit into the interior most successfully.
How is the wardrobe different from the usual?
The main difference between a wardrobe and a regular wardrobe is sliding doors. The wardrobe opens by moving the canvases along a special gutter due to the wheels attached to them.
Sliding wardrobe is not necessarily a separate piece of furniture. It can easily be built into almost any niche that is large enough for this.
And, finally, the wardrobe inside can have any filling - all kinds of shelves, hangers, rods and other accessories designed to maximize the organization of storage space.
What are wardrobes?
The most common are sliding wardrobes of the following types:
- built-in;
- angular;
- case.
Built-in wardrobes are the best option for apartments with an uncomfortable layout, with numerous ledges or niches. The main feature of such cabinets is the absence of a floor, ceiling, rear wall or side walls, and sometimes all together. In addition, the built-in housing is the cheapest option, since this approach can significantly save consumable material.
The corner wardrobe first of all looks rather unusual. Due to the additional section, it becomes possible to maximize the use in most cases of empty space at the junction between the walls. Such a sliding wardrobe inside can have absolutely any filling: design features do not affect its main purpose at all.
Cabinet sliding wardrobes are the most standard type of this furniture group. You can put them anywhere and anyway, which makes such a wardrobe quite mobile when rearranging. It is permissible to even block a space with a wardrobe, making, for example, two from one room.
What are the benefits of sliding wardrobes?
- Space saving. Sliding wardrobes do not open outward, as usual, their doors are shifted to the side, which allows you to put furniture more densely. Or put such a wardrobe where you can’t open a typical wardrobe.
- High roominess. A wardrobe inside may have the number of shelves that the customer needs, or not have them at all - it all depends entirely on the purpose of the wardrobe.
- Possibility of custom production. Here, the scope for imagination is limited only by the laws of physics and the skill of specialists. The rest is a matter of the customer’s own taste: color, number of doors, design, internal equipment, the presence of mirrors and exclusive finishes - all this can be done in various variations.
- Multifunctionality. In a spacious sliding wardrobe you can hide almost anything: from books to home appliances and furniture. Additional space can also be arranged. For example, a mini dressing room or a workplace can easily fit in wardrobes inside. The photo below shows one of these options.
- Long service life. For the manufacture of modern cabinet furniture, chipboard and MDF panels with a special coating are used, which are easy to care for, resistant to temperature extremes and high humidity.

Where can I place a wardrobe?
Options for the placement of wardrobes can be a great many. Here are the most popular ones:
- corridor;
- Walk-in closet;
- living room;
- children's;
- bedroom;
- a bathroom or a bathroom;
- a loggia.
If you place such furniture in the bedroom or dressing room, then wardrobes inside (photos with examples below) will look almost the same. All their filling will serve to store clothes, underwear, things and accessories.
The main role that the closet performs in the corridor is the entrance hall. Inside (photo - later in the article) they are organized in such a way that both outerwear and shoes can be placed.
The wardrobe for the living room can be designed taking into account the presence of open side shelves for placing interior trinkets, a niche for a TV or book shelves.
For a children's wardrobe, the compartment inside will look more like a symbiosis of a wardrobe and a small pantry, in which you can conveniently place sports equipment, toys and books. To save space, it is quite possible to equip a folding table.
In rooms with high humidity, such a cabinet will help to store various necessary things and accessories, which cannot be placed on the rest of the apartment’s area.
Interior wardrobes
Before buying or ordering a wardrobe with sliding doors, you need to think in advance not only where it will stand, but also take into account its main functions. This completely depends on what the filling will be.
For example, a wardrobe in the hallway inside should have enough bars for outerwear, as well as a lot of free space underneath the shoes. It is clear that the extra shelves here will be completely out of place.
For the internal organization of wardrobes, the following details are used:
- rods for hangers;
- ordinary shelves;
- mezzanines;
- laundry baskets;
- holders for trousers, belts and ties;
- baskets for small items and accessories;
- iron mount;
- shoe shelves;
- corner shelves;
- hatter;
- folding seats;
- drawers;
- hooks for bags, bags;
- racks for umbrellas;
- housekeepers;
- mirrors;
- backlight.
Regardless of where the closet will be located, it is worth remembering that the middle part is most often used, then the lower, and finally the upper, where most of the most unnecessary things are hidden.
