In the heart of Krasnodar, on its main street, there is a puppet theater, the oldest in the Kuban. This temple of art has a rich history; the famous children's writer Samuel Marshak stood at its origins.
The theater itself is located in a two-story building. On the ground floor there is a beautifully decorated hall and a cozy room for up to 320 spectators. History
Unfortunately, it is not known exactly when the regional puppet theater was opened. Krasnodar in the city archive contains data that in April 1939 the local "traveling collective-farm and state-farm puppet theater" presented here. However, the studies of historians indicate that in 1918 in Krasnodar there was a fateful meeting for the city of the children's writer Samuel Marshak and the poetess Elizabeth Dmitrieva. It was they who owned the idea of creating the first puppet theater in the Kuban. They enthusiastically got down to business, and on July 18, 1920, local residents saw the performance "Flying Chest" on the stage of the Red Army club. After a while, the Cat House and a few more fairy tales were put here. But in May 1922, Dmitrieva with her husband and Marshaki left the city, and the puppet theater stopped working. Krasnodar saw new performances only in 1939.

At first, the institution did not have its own building. Actors performed on the stages of various institutions. Only in 1961 the troupe settled in a stationary building.
