Match fishing

Match fishing, also called long-distance casting, is the most interesting type of float fishing. It is especially relevant for long-distance casting rigs, where large fish fearlessly and actively swallow the bait. Experienced anglers with match tackle always feel confident in almost all bodies of water and on sea fishing, and on stationary. However, for beginners, this species at first glance may seem complex, subject only to professional fishers. But for those who have seriously decided to master this fishing, experienced hunters will always help with tips in preparing and choosing equipment that will require fishing with a match fishing rod.

In order not to make a mistake in choosing a match fishing rod, you need to take into account several important points, in particular, what kind of fish is supposed to be, at what distance match fishing will be done. For a fishing rod of a light class, crucian carp, roach, and rudd at a thirty-centimeter distance from the shore are suitable. Large carp at a distance of fifty centimeters will require a medium or even heavy class fishing rod. The fishing rod of the middle class is considered optimal for match fishing. Its length is from 3.9 to 4.2 m, which is suitable for most reservoirs.

Match fishing line deserves special attention. It must meet all the requirements of the match rod equipment . A fishing line with softness, strength, low extensibility and high wear resistance is already half the success. For good visibility of marker marks, it is better to choose a dark fishing line, preferably drowning, since a fishing line floating on the surface, even with a slight wind blow, will take the equipment from the place of feeding.

For better reeling of the fishing line from the spool of the reel and in order for it to melt more during casting, it must be degreased periodically. For this purpose, a special spray is used, with which the line is carefully sprayed directly on the reel spool. For lack of spray, you can also use detergent for dishes. Match fishing will not be successful if you make a mistake in choosing the size of the main fishing line. The optimal line is 0.16-0.18 mm. Less experienced anglers will use a thicker fishing line that can catch trophy carp and roach.

On the shock leader is a match snap. Its size is equal to the double length of the rod and an additional five turns on the spool. Fishing conditions can be different, therefore it is more expedient to prepare equipment for them in advance and fix them on reel trucks. This will significantly save time when switching to fishing with heavier or lighter rigs. In such cases, the shock leader is simply cut off, located at the node level with the main fishing line, and a new shock leader is attached, with the equipment already ready.

In match rigging, leashes are made of high-quality fishing line with increased breaking characteristics. Their diameter is from 0.01 to 0.14 mm, depending on the activity of the bite, the proposed trophy and the fishing conditions themselves.

Undoubtedly, the fishing conditions also influence the leash length: current strength, depth, bottom structure, nibble activity, type of fish. Usually it ranges from thirty to eighty centimeters. For example, for carp, a length of thirty centimeters is suitable, for a bream, you need to take a length from forty to sixty centimeters, and a carp needs a length of eighty centimeters.

Without strong and sharp hooks, match fishing will not bring much profit. Therefore, it is necessary with all responsibility to approach their preparation. The main criteria that influence their choice are the nozzle used and the intended production. But one should not hope that a large catch and a large hook will bring a good catch. Hopes, as a rule, are not justified.

And another important detail in match fishing is a well-chosen float. Often the success of fishing depends on the correctness of his choice. Here you need to consider a lot: wind speed, its direction, current velocity and fishing depth, water background, sharp bites and fish activity. Given all this, you should include at least five to ten floats with different carrying capacities in the set.

Subject to all the conditions for preparing for the match fishing, as well as the correct selection of all auxiliary material, one can hope for a good catch.
