Orsk Airport is the second largest air transport hub in the Orenburg region. It is located 16 km south of the city of the same name, near the border with Kazakhstan. The Russians living in this area, as well as the citizens of Kazakhstan, are actively using its services.
History
The airport of Orsk was founded in 1958, in the Soviet period. Then, the fleet of the enterprise included aircraft An-2 and Yak-12. A few years later, IL-14 and Li-2 aircraft began to be serviced here. In 1969, the airport began serving passenger flights to Moscow and back, which were operated on the An-24.
In the 70s, Soviet civil aviation began to develop rapidly, so there was a need to modernize the conditions for servicing passenger traffic. In 1982, the construction of a new complex begins on the site of the existing airport. The largest enterprises of the region take part in the work. In 1984, the construction of a new runway begins. In this regard, civilian aircraft are received at the military airport Pervomaisky, near Orsk.
In 1987, a new runway with artificial turf began to be operated, which made it possible to serve Tu-134 airliners. And in 1991, direct air service along the Orsk-Moscow route opened. By 1993, reconstruction of the runway was carried out, as well as a technical flight on the Tu-154 domestic aircraft. A year later, IL-76 service begins here. In 1998, Orsk Airport received the status of an international air transport hub.
In the post-Soviet period, contracts are actively concluded with Russian and foreign air carriers. Until 2003, the organization was one of the structural divisions of the Orenburg airline, but subsequently it became municipal. By 2011, the second runway modernization work was carried out.
