When retouching a photo, you probably thought about how to diversify the editing process so that it was fun and interesting. The editor needs to carefully process the photos, observe the proportions and harmoniously retouch the object. But sometimes you want something bright and extraordinary, such that it will prompt a person to enthusiastically format the images further.
In recent years, the glitch-style art movement has gained popularity. Images have a unique structure in the form of analog errors, distortions on the screen and incorrect color reproduction. The user will probably think about how to make the glitch effect. Despite its unusualness, the images are truly unique in their way.
How to make a glitch effect in Adobe Photshop
Some users often go too far with the effects of noise, blur and bugs, which greatly changes the visual appeal of the image - it is sometimes simply impossible to make out. Therefore, many professionals recall that the glitch effect should be used in moderation.
First, we will carry out preparatory operations for work:
- You need to open the program and create a document with an image that will be edited.
- It is best to combine all layers into a single one, so that distortion and interference affect all parts of the document. You must reformat the layer into a smart object in the layers panel.
- Create four duplicates of a single layer through the layers panel (the option "Combine All" or "Merge Visible").
- Switch to our new duplicated layer to reproduce the work on color shift.
Changing RGB channels
Before making a glitch effect, it is necessary to carry out a key operation for channel decomposition, since all auxiliary distortions and interference will follow it. Proper separation of RGB colors facilitates uniform blending of the "conditional color mask."
- Click on the active duplicated layer to bring up the layer settings menu. Here we select the "Blending Options" section, which contains the color channels. Leave only one color channel. Move the resulting image a little to the side to create a visual cloning effect.
- We carry out the exact same operation with the other two duplicated layers, only you need to select a color channel for each layer.
- On the last duplicated layer, you should create a mask in which you can increase the saturation of all colors and create a mask layer in the form of horizontal stripes.
VHS Textures
You can experiment with filters and textures, which are located in the corresponding section. The most commonly used textures are Grain and Colored Tile. After determining with a texture and other visual filters, you should determine the settings of the elements, which include the density and size of the texture. In the Filters tab, you can find many useful sub-settings, such as noise, which is indispensable in creating a glitch effect. The basis of this method is the imposition of various effects and filters on different layers.
