Today, everyone can create the kitchen of their dreams. And this applies not only to the general interior, walls, floors and ceilings. Nowadays, you can choose any design of the facades of kitchen furniture - from natural solid wood or its analogues (fiberboard, MDF), as well as plastic.
The first option is undoubtedly very good, but it has one significant drawback - high cost. Therefore, most consumers prefer plastic facades. And the reason for this choice is not only an affordable price. Modern plastic panels used in the manufacture of furniture are durable, high-quality material that does not require complicated maintenance. In addition, such models, due to the variety of color solutions, fit perfectly into any interior.
We will look at various plastic kitchens. Photos, owner reviews you can see in this article.
Plastic facades
What is a plastic facade for a kitchen set? These are panels covered with a layer of plastic, which allows not only to decorate furniture, but also to reliably protect it. As a rule, for the manufacture of such facades, chipboard or a better and more durable material is used - MDF. It is easier to handle, which eliminates the appearance of defects in production.
Front panels are covered with two types of plastic :
Rolled plastic in its technical characteristics is similar to a PVC film, but it is more dense, resistant to mechanical damage.
Sheet plastic is a particularly hard material. It is recognized as the best option for facades, as it has good characteristics: resistance to negative factors, high density. Differences in these materials affect the cost of the finished product. Such facades belong to the middle price segment. Therefore, plastic kitchens today are very popular and in demand.
How is plastic applied?
This process occurs under the influence of high pressure and temperature. Due to this, the color is "absorbed" into the layer of the plate. In the same way, diffusion of the surface of the plate and the film occurs, which ensures maximum adhesion.
The advantages of plastic facades
First of all, it is necessary to say about the rich choice of the external design of plastic panels, which is very important for housewives. A huge number of tones and textures are truly pleasing. You can create original options that imitate wood or stone, graphic or floral patterns. Moreover, admirers of futuristic ideas for a home or hi-tech style today can use colored chameleons or metallized facades that change color at a certain angle.
Such plastic kitchens, photos of which can often be seen in manufacturers' catalogs, will decorate any room and emphasize your refined taste. Most consumers, in addition to the appearance of plastic facades, care about their practicality. Experts are sure that according to this parameter the materials we are considering do not have worthy competitors.
There are several reasons for this:
- Increased strength, which ensures the absence of defects and cracks during operation. Thanks to the special technology of applying plastic to MDF boards, high moisture resistance is achieved. This contributes to the fact that the upper part does not exfoliate under the influence of moisture.
- High wear resistance puts plastic kitchens in first place among other analogues. With proper care, such a kitchen will not change its appearance even after ten years.
- The thermal stability of the material and the absence of its reaction to ultraviolet contribute to the preservation of the surroundings.
- Unlimited design possibilities. In addition to a wide selection of textured and color solutions, plastic facades can be made in any form - curly, bent oval, radius, etc.
- Even the matte and textured surface of the plastic has a slight sheen.
disadvantages
Despite the obvious advantages, plastic facades have disadvantages that must be considered before purchasing a set of furniture.
- Regardless of the texture of the material, fingerprints may remain on the surface of the facades. This issue is especially relevant for families with small children. In this case, we recommend thinking about other options, otherwise you will spend all your free time polishing drawers and cabinets.
- Some designs of kitchen facades have a significant drawback - a dented surface effect may appear in the center. This visual distortion is usually observed on slabs made by cold pressing.
However, the excellent appearance and quality characteristics of these materials easily cross out all the shortcomings.
Kitchens are plastic angular
The arrangement of kitchen furniture at an angle is especially convenient when the room has a square shape or small area. In the second version, this arrangement of furniture allows you to create a convenient and ergonomic space, use the free space in the corner, and use the existing niches.
The amazing plasticity of polyvinyl chloride allows you to go beyond the right angles. Plastic kitchens can have soft smooth forms, including concave ones, which many housewives prefer today, especially if the kitchen area is very small. The convenient arrangement of shelves and cabinets in the corner kit allows you to place all the necessary kitchen utensils. This gives the hostess a chance to leave maximum work space.
Black and white kitchens
The range of colors for plastic kitchens is wide. They will help you to find out how various plastic kitchens look, photo. Black and white models, in our opinion, are the most stylish option. And, judging by the reviews, we are not alone in our opinion. Many people think that such kitchens look so elegant and festive that in such a room it’s just a pity to cook.
In reality, black and white models are practical and convenient. That is why millions of people around the world prefer this particular option. This is a great solution if you prefer high-tech style. Black and white plastic kitchens (photos you can see in this article) turn a boring, boring room into a stylish and modern. When purchasing such a kitchen, do not be afraid that you will miss out on colors - the combination of white and black looks very impressive.
DIY plastic kitchen
We have already said that high-pressure laminated plastic is used to decorate the facades of kitchen furniture. Most often it is labeled HPL. The manufacture of plastic doors for furniture in the kitchen can significantly reduce costs. If you manage to master the intricacies of this technology, then arranging a kitchen will cost you three times less than an order from professionals.
Where to begin?
First, it is necessary to cut the workpiece of the desired size from the MDF sheet, adding about 20 mm in width and length. The workpiece must be well cleaned of sawdust and dust and wiped dry. Glue is applied on the surface of the workpiece with a thin even layer. If you are not in a hurry, use PVA, if you need to make the facade quickly, you will need Kleiberit.
On top of the workpiece, lay the plastic of the required size and roll it with a rubber roller, then place it under the press until the glue polymerizes. When it is completely dry, you need to get it out from under the press - you can start trimming the edge (it should turn out 3 mm smaller than the original size).
The ends of the workpiece are milled; grooves are made in it for the installation of an aluminum profile. Your door is almost ready - it remains to install an aluminum profile around the perimeter of the facade. For this, the end profile must be cut to the size of the workpiece, then file the ends at an angle of 45 degrees. Apply glue to the groove. In this case, you can use PVA or "liquid nails."
Install the profile in the milled groove and gently tap with a mallet until it is fully installed. When the profile is pasted, file the joints of the aluminum frame with a file.
Owner reviews
Most customers are happy to have purchased plastic kitchens. Furniture, according to them, looks very modern, does not require complicated maintenance, is not afraid of moisture and temperature changes. In addition, the cost of such kits is quite affordable.
The only drawback of such models, many consider the remaining handprints, especially on a glossy surface. But this drawback is easily eliminated with a soft cloth and detergent.
