ZIL 130 dump trucks are real veterans of the domestic automotive industry. These machines went off the assembly line for almost half a century from 1962 to 2010. Initially, Moscow was the assembly point for these trucks, but at the dawn of the 1990s they began to be produced in Novouralsk. These unique cars will be discussed in this article.
Historical reference
ZIL 130 dump trucks began to be developed in 1953 already far from us. These cars became an upgraded version of model 125. Truck tests were carried out in 1959, and three years later the first cars began to be sold. In 1963, Soviet automobile development was awarded a gold award at the international exhibition in Leipzig. Serial production of ZIL began in 1964 and soon it began to be massively sold out throughout the country.
Appointment
ZIL 130 dump trucks had a wide range of their application. These trucks were used on construction sites, in agriculture, helped utilities to carry out their activities, were involved in commercial purposes, and were even in the service of the military. At the same time, the main task of these cars was the transportation of heavy goods. Nowadays, cars of this series are in the ranks of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia and Ukraine.
Parameters
The technical characteristic of ZIL 130 (dump truck) is as follows:
- Height - 2400 mm.
- Length - 6675 mm.
- Width - 2500 mm.
- Ground clearance - 275 mm.
- The smallest possible turning radius is 8900 mm.
- The maximum driving speed is 90 km / h.
- Fuel consumption at full load - 37 liters per 100 kilometers.
- The capacity of the fuel tank is 175 liters.
- Payload - 6 tons.
At a speed of 60 km / h, the car will need 28 meters of braking distance.
Power point
ZIL 130 dump trucks originally had six-cylinder engines with a capacity of 135 horsepower and a volume of 5.2 liters. But practice has shown that these indicators were not enough for cars, and therefore the engine has undergone modernization. The updated version has already received a capacity of 150 horsepower. A mechanical type pump was also built in, which provided acceleration and lubrication of friction units. The engine itself worked on low-quality gasoline A-76.
Today, ZIL 130 is equipped with a four-stroke eight-cylinder engine with a carburetor. Technical characteristics of such an engine are as follows:
- Volume - 6 liters.
- Power - 150 HP
- The maximum torque is 401 Nm.
- The compression ratio is 6.5.
Throughout the history of the truck has undergone some changes and body. The ZIL 130 dump truck was upgraded two times, as a result of which the cab and radiator grille were changed. Otherwise, no major work with the reconstruction machine took place.
General description of the device
ZIL 130 as a whole is quite simple in its design. Two semi-elliptic springs are located on the front suspension, and a pair of primary and secondary springs on the rear.
The transmission of the truck is mechanical. The gearbox has five speeds. The torque from the box to the rear axle is transmitted using a cardan.
The brake system of the machine initially functioned due to the presence of a pneumatic system. The air reserve was provided by the presence of a specialized tank. The parking brake had a drum to lock the driveshaft.
The car cabin was streamlined with an alligator hood. The number of places in it was three. In this case, the driver's seat could be adjusted both vertically and horizontally. The angle of inclination of the back also changed.
Of the innovations of that time, it is worth noting the presence of a power steering, which made it possible to successfully control the machine even when the wheel broke during riding.
The half-century history of the truck shows that it turned out to be very unpretentious and easy to operate, thanks to which it can still be found on the streets today.
