Gennady Yanin was born in 1968 in the city of Serpukhov, Moscow Region. His makings of a dancer appeared in early childhood, so his parents sent the boy to a ballet school. The fact that the publication of pictures defaming Gennady Yanin is a well-planned action, no one doubted. According to the then Director General of the Bolshoi Theater, the famous dancer Nikolai Tsiskaridze could have been related to the action directed against Gennady Yanin. Anatoly Iskanov did not directly blame the star for complicity or organization of this demarche, aimed at the moral destruction of Ioannina. However, in his interviews, he noted that it was Tsiskaridze who was responsible for the unhealthy atmosphere in the Bolshoi.

Tsiskaridze himself blamed Anatoly Iskanov. He hinted that the latter offered Yanin a guest contract with the Bolshoi Theater, with the proviso that Gennady would support his version of Nikolai’s involvement in the distribution of pornographic images. Among the true culprits of “pornogate” at the Bolshoi, the dancer also named Sergei Filin, whose friends, he said, phoned the troupe members and asked to sign an angry letter about the “immorality” of Yanin.
Career after scandal
As ill-wishers did not seek, they did not succeed in removing Gennady Yanin from the ballet profession. A vivid confirmation of this was his participation in 2015 at the 28th Nureyev Festival. According to both experts and spectators, the highlight of this dance festival was the performance of Anuta by Valery Gavrilin, staged by Vladimir Vasiliev.
