How to open PUB file? Two programs

There are a huge variety of file formats. For this reason, no user can know them all. But sometimes it happens that you download a file and realize that you don’t know how to open it. This fully applies to the PUB extension. Most people do not know how to open a PUB file, which is why in this article there will be two programs that can do this.

What is this extension?

Before you open the PUB file with the help of special programs, it's worth talking about the nature of this extension. In fact, it is considered already obsolete, as the developers modified it to ePUB. Essentially, PUB is a format for newsletters and booklets. It is capable of containing three components: graphics, images and formatted text.

Program One: Microsoft Office Publisher

Speaking about the nature of the PUB format, we did not mention the program in which it is created, but it is called Microsoft Office Publisher. This is the program that opens the PUB files from the well-known Microsoft company. From here we can single out the first drawback - the application is paid, but if you want to get all the advantages when working with PUB files, you still need to purchase it.

Well, now let's move on to how to open PUB in Microsoft Office Publisher:

1. To get started, start the Microsoft Office Publisher program.
2. Open the Explorer window to select a file. You can do this by clicking the "File" button, and then "Open." Note that the same action is performed by pressing the hot keys Ctrl + O.
3. In the file manager window that appears, pave the path to the PUB file, select it and click "Open."
4. Immediately the file will be launched in the program, and you will be able to work with it.

But there is also another way to open it, which is much faster. You just need to open the folder with the file in the "Explorer" and launch the application, and then take the file with the mouse from the file manager and transfer it to the workspace of the Microsoft Office Publisher window.

Program Two: LibreOffice

The LibreOffice program over Microsoft Office Publisher has one significant advantage - it is free. By the way, in terms of the set of tools, it is in no way inferior to the application from the first method, so if you do not want to overpay, you can use it. So, to open the file in LibreOffice, you need:

1. Open the program.
2. Launch the "Open" window. To do this, you can click the "File" button, and then select "Open", or click on the "Open file" button in the program menu.
3. In the Explorer window, simply open the PUB file.
