Types of fittings
Installation of furniture hinges begins with the correct selection of elements. Such a need may arise when furniture is made to order, but the owner is already assembling it. Regardless of the type of loop, it will have the necessary components:
- a cup;
- mounting plate;
- “shoulder”.
As for the types of loops, there are four of them:
- Overhead loops can be found everywhere, they are also called "frogs". The opening angle of such a loop is 90-165 degrees.
2. Semi-laid loops have a bend at the base.
3. Corner hinges make it possible to open the door at an angle of 30 to 175 degrees.
4. The inner hinges are curved.
Each type of furniture hardware should be selected in accordance with the existing furniture facade.
Where furniture hinges are used
As already noted above, furniture accessories have 4 types of hinges, while each has its own purpose:
- An overlay loop is installed when the facade completely covers the extreme recesses.
- Semi-laid fittings are used when one side wall has two wings.
- Installation of furniture hinges of angular types is carried out if necessary to give the door a position at a certain angle.
- Some models of furniture have internal doors that are attached from the inside. In this case, the side walls remain open.

Instruments
Installation of furniture hinges begins with the preparation of the necessary tool. For such work you will need the following kit:
- a set of loops;
- ruler or building level for marking;
- a simple pencil;
- drill and screwdriver;
- face mill with a diameter of 3.5 cm;
- screws.
These accessories will help to accurately mark and install furniture fittings.
Calculation of the number of elements
Do-it-yourself furniture hinge installation starts with marking. Accuracy is very important at this stage, otherwise the product will not have a neat appearance. First of all, you need to measure the height of the wings, with which you will have to work. Installation of furniture hinges, the sizes of which should be selected for the dimensions of the furniture, is calculated with one piece for every 0.5 m of the door height. However, if the shutters are less than a meter in size, it is necessary to hang at least two loops so that the product looks even.
In the process of purchasing accessories, you should also think about the load that will be put on the hinges, that is, calculate how often the headset doors will open and close. For kitchen furniture, for example, you can purchase accessories with closers.
Markup process
The center of the hinge hole should be 7-12 cm from the top or bottom edge of the door. The distance to the lateral edge should be 2.1-2.2 cm. Do not forget about the possibility of installing shelves. They must not be found on the hinge, otherwise the cabinet doors will not be able to close.
Using a ruler, measure 7-12 cm from the upper and lower ends, the obtained points are fixed with a pencil. On the resulting line, a distance of about 2.1-2.2 cm to the inner edge of the door is measured, after which marks are also made. The result should be two currents in which one vertical and two horizontal lines intersect. These marks serve as the center of the hole into which the loop cup will be laid. It is recommended to select them with a nail, just digging a little hole in it a little.
Remember that for every 50 cm one such hole should be made, that is, for doors longer than a meter, more workpieces must be calculated.
Hardware Installation
Installation of furniture overhead loops is as follows:
1. Using a drill with a cutter, a hole is drilled under the buttonhole cup. For this, preliminary markings were made with a nail. In order for the work to be done as accurately as possible, it is recommended to place the door on a solid horizontal base and fix it there. The cutter must have a strictly perpendicular direction with respect to the plane of the leaf. The rush in this process is fatal, since the depth of the hole must strictly correspond to the size of the hinged cup, about 1.2-1.3 cm.
2. Next, the fittings are inserted into the holes obtained. The main requirement at this stage is the perpendicular relationship with the end of the sash. Otherwise, the product will look crooked. For maximum accuracy, the construction level is used. The hinge is fixed to the door using self-tapping screws.
3. The final point is the installation of the sash on the furniture itself. If the headset element is not so large, then you can lay it on its side, and on the side to which you plan to screw the door. Screw mounting points are carefully measured, after which they are twisted. To adjust the evenness of the door, the hinges are tightened or, on the contrary, loosened.
