When working with digital snapshots and images, it is often necessary to compress a photograph. In this case, this term refers to the following: reduce the size occupied by files. The need for this operation is due to a variety of reasons.

MS Paint Editor
So, the easiest and most affordable way is to use the MS Paint application built into the Windows operating system. You need to click on the file with the right mouse button, and in the list of actions that appears, select the "Change" command. If for some reason this item is missing, then you can do differently: press the “Win + R” combination, type “mspaint”, select “Open” in the program menu, specify the target file. You probably don’t have to learn how to compress photos in this application - everything is automated.
After opening the file, it remains to click on the image of the diskette or select "Save as JPG". Size will be reduced by 30-40% (depending on the original quality).
The second method involves changing the resolution. For example, those huge numbers of dots issued by modern digital cameras are not always needed. If their number is reduced, the file size will also become smaller. To do this, after opening the image, you must click the link on the main screen of the program - “Resize”. It’s not necessary to figure out how to compress photos using this function for a long time. In the window that appears, you can select the "Interest" or "Pixels" method. The first is obvious. The second is direct adjustment of the number of points. You need to choose your favorite method. In most cases, it is not recommended to uncheck the box next to the item “Keep proportions”.
