It all started back in 1988, when the Kama Plant decided to update its line of dump trucks. It replaced the old ten-ton model 5511. The novelty was equipped with a new cabin, distinguished by its height and rectangular headlights built into the bumper. Unlike the 250th KRAZ, the new cab was metal. There was no berth in it (it would never be useful at a construction site). The salon accommodated the driver and one passenger. Convenient steps provide a quick and secure entrance to the cabin. The design of the new KAMAZ had some similarities with the 15-ton dump truck of the Model 65115. Their main differences are load-carrying capacity and fuel consumption. This four-axle model is the most enormous, volumetric and load-lifting among all other dump trucks. The truck is equipped with a KAMAZ 750-360 brand engine with a capacity of 360 horsepower. Thanks to this unit, it is able to pull loads weighing up to 20 tons inclusive. Moreover, due to its high ground clearance, it easily copes with mounds, pits and other irregularities. There are two mechanical gearboxes - nine and ten steps. There is also a 16-speed ZF box. The total volume of the KAMAZ body of the 6540 dump truck is 20 cubic meters. Like the 55111 model, the four-axle truck has a tow hitch, thanks to which you can increase the load capacity by about 1.5 times.
