The animated film "Crocodile Gene" was invented and created after the publication of the works of the famous children's writer E. N. Uspensky. For the first time, the story "Crocodile Gene and His Friends" was published in 1966, and a little later came out on the screens and the cartoon, which had its continuation in the next three series.

It is interesting that precisely after the cartoon was released on television screens, the main characters of which were the crocodile Gena and Cheburashka, Eduard Uspensky became widely known as the author of many children's works.

In 1971, the second film from the series was released, it was called "Cheburashka." It was he who sounded the "Song of the Crocodile Genes." The author of the music of this famous children's hit is Vladimir Shainsky. The lyrics were written by the poet Alexander Timofeevsky. The song was performed by actor Vasily Livanov, who voiced the crocodile Gena in all the series of the cartoon.
