We configure windows. How to create a LAN connection

With the development of network systems and technologies, it became possible to unite a group of distributed computers into a network and call it a common working name. For example, workgroup. Such a network can be called local.

Why is such a network needed

A local network allows you to transfer any voluminous content between members of a network group. Music, clips, documents and other data: all this can be exchanged over the network and offered in the so-called shared access.

Such networks can have many configurations. Our task is to discover how to create a local area network connection using Windows.

First of all, I want to add a few words about this OS. Windows (windows) is a modern multi-user system with a graphical interface. The developer of the operating system is a large industrial corporation Microsoft (founder Bill Gates).

Communication with the computer takes place through dialog β€œwindows”. Hence the name. Both the Internet connection through the local network and its configuration itself will be considered precisely in the context of the Windows 7 software tools.

How to create a LAN connection

We create and configure a local network in the mentioned system. We will consider the simplest option when you need to connect only two PCs with a cable. To do this, you need a crossover network cable. At such a connection, one end of the cable is crimped in the reverse marking of the cable veins.

The second step is to make sure that the type of cable corresponds to the connection port in your network cards. If so, you can proceed to network configuration at the software level. If not, carefully read the instructions for the network card, what type of cable can be connected there, and with cable marking.

Next, read the instructions on how to create a LAN connection. For starters, the same way for Windows versions, a virtual workgroup is created, which is called Workgroup by default (you can change the name to your own if necessary). This means that all computers on the LAN are assigned this network name.

Now we will consider a special case, namely: how to create a local area network connection windows 7. The list of actions for this is listed below.
On the desktop or in the Start menu, find the My Computer icon.

Next, using the right mouse button, in the items that appear, select the "properties" option. Now in the dialog box, select the "Computer Name" tab. Here, it is assumed that you can enter or change a name for any computer in the local workgroup. Names, of course, must be the same for all hosts, so that each of them can be recognized by another one entering the local network.

The main thing in windows 7 is the "auto-capture" of the newly created network without rebooting the PC. It happens that a reboot is still needed if the automatic recognition of a local connection does not work suddenly.

The next configuration step is through the control panel. There we select the shortcut "Network and Internet", then we find the "Control Center" and in it the tab "Configure a new connection". In the window that opens, the assistant program starts. She will guide you through all the steps of creating a standard connection, which will solve the question of how to create a connection on the local network.

The algorithm for generating IP addresses in the local network space

The last configuration step is to assign each PC a unique numeric address - an IP address. The following data is usually used for assignment: addresses start sequentially with the value 192.168.0.1, then the last digit on each new host increases by one, i.e. the address of the second PC will be 192.168.0.2, the third - 0.3, etc. You also need to create a netmask, by default its value is 255.255.255.0.

Thus, we considered the option of creating a local area network using windows 7 and assigning computers to the network a unique IP to uniquely identify each host.
