Cutting and combining music in popular audio editors

To trim an audio file and connect parts of music tracks, you must use special applications. The article provides instructions for mounting tracks in the most popular programs.

Audacity

The program for connecting music Audacity has the following functions:

Beginning of work

Mixing music and other operations always starts with opening files. To add the desired track to the project, you can simply drag it into the utility window. Also, this action is performed using the standard menu "File" - "Open".

In the first case, the file will be added as an additional sound track in the current project. In the second, a new project will be created with the opening of a second copy of the program. You can also add a track to an existing work without launching a new window from the menu. To do this, click on "File" - "Import". After opening the file, the graph of its frequency response will be displayed on the timeline.

Deleting parts of a track

To remove fragments from an imported record, simply select the unwanted part with the mouse and click on the "Del" button. Also, this action can be performed using the menu: "Edit" - "Delete". Or use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + K".

To evaluate the work, click on the place on the timeline from which you want to start listening. After that, click on the button with the image of a green triangle at the top of the main window.

To create a ringtone, trimming and combining music using this method is of little use. If you want to make a melody for a call from a song, select the part of the record that you want to leave, and then use the key combination "Ctrl + T". After that, drag the fragment to the beginning of the timeline.

Also, the selected parts can be cut, copied, created from them new tracks or moved to other projects.

Mixing music in Audacity

To compile a track from parts of different music files:

1. Open each of them in separate projects.
2. In the first, delete all unnecessary parts.
3. In the second - on the contrary - the desired segment.
4. Copy the fragment to the clipboard.
5. Go back to the window where the first file is open.
6. Paste the copied fragment and drag it to the desired location on the timeline.

Experienced users can perform a music mix within the same project. In this case, each file must be imported as a separate track. This approach is preferable if the work is performed on a "weak" computer. Editing a large number of audio recordings in one project is associated with additional difficulties. The user will have to turn off the sound of tracks that should not sound during playback, and select tracks with the same bit of audio data.

Saving a track to a file

When the music connection is completed, it remains to save the work to a file. To perform this operation:

1. Click on the word "File" in the top menu of the application.
2. Click on "Export Audio".
3. Change to the directory where you want to save the file.
4. Select a sound format from the drop-down menu.
5. Click on "Save."

mp3DirectCut

mp3DirectCut - a program for combining music and its cutting. In addition to its direct purpose, the utility can record sound from a microphone and line input. The application supports only MP3 and AAC files.

The operation principle in mp3DirectCut is similar to Audacity. To remove parts of a track:

1. Open it.
2. Select an unnecessary fragment in the timeline.
3. Press the Del button.

To connect music:

1. Open two copies of the program.
2. In the first, select a section of the track.
3. Copy it with the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + C".
4. Go to the second window.
5. Place the cursor in the place where you want to attach the copied fragment.
6. Press "Ctrl + V" to paste.
7. When the music slicing and connection are completed, click on the "File" menu, and select "Save complete audio" in the list of options.
8. Indicate the future file name.
9. Click on Enter.
