How to open XPS: answer to a question

The modern world is developing rapidly. Literally every month, more and more new programs appear, and operating systems are updated every year. Keeping up with all the innovations, even serious companies are not always easy, because you need to allocate funds for the update. Needless to say about ordinary users. With the advent of Windows 7, new, more advanced data formats have gradually spread. And if many have already got used to the DOCX and XLSX formats, there are still a large number of other new data formats, including XPS. It is with this document that we will deal with this article.

XPS file format is a format used to view, sign, save and protect documents. A document of this format is like a sheet of paper. And as it is impossible to change the contents of a regular sheet after printing, it will not work to change the contents of an XPS document after it is saved.

If you have the operating system Windows 7, then the question "How to open XPS?" you will not appear. This OS allows you to create documents of this format in any of the programs where it is possible to print. View, set permissions and sign documents of this format allows the XPS viewer. So now, if you encounter an XPS file , than open it, you will already know. To open a document, just double-click on it. It will open automatically in the viewer. This application is very simple, so you are likely to have no difficulty working with it.

Now we will try to understand the basic operations of this utility. The viewer, which allows solving the problem than opening XPS, has several options:

- search for phrases in the document;

- saving a copy of the document;

- change the viewing scale;

- digital signature of the document.

- access control, duration of access.

Also, to solve the problem, than open XPS, you can use other programs.

  1. NET Framework 4. This program comes bundled.
  2. Microsoft XPS Essentials Pack freeware. This program is the official and recommended viewer from Microsoft. Ideal for Windows XP, Vista.
  3. Microsoft XPS Viewer freeware is a viewer from Microsoft built into Internet Explorer.
  4. STDU Viewer. This program is for non-commercial use completely free. It allows you to view XPS, DJVU and PDF files.

However, the XPS Viewer is the most optimal and easiest option. Using this program, as already noted, you can determine who should be allowed to view documents, copy them, print or sign.

To increase security, you can set how long each visitor will be able to view the file and make changes to it.

To be able to set permissions for XPS-format documents, you must install an account certificate that will allow you to connect to the rights management service. If the account was not connected to the control system and a certificate was not issued for it, when you try to change or add permission, you will see an error message on the computer monitor.

The XPS Viewer enables users to find words or phrases in an open XPS document. You can switch the search direction, select search settings, and also clear the current search. This program has other possibilities. To get to know them better, it's best to open the XPS document yourself in the viewer and carefully examine the menu.

I hope that now you know how to open XPS and what kind of document format it is. But we, ordinary users, have to wait for what other innovations Microsoft will release in order to then solve the problem of whether to update the system or while working with the already familiar Windows 7. But once upon a time I did not want to change XP to a not-so-successful Vista.
